Goldilocks lives in the sleepy hamlet of Hook Norton and, to be frank, she's bored. Nothing ever happens there: the pot holes don’t get fixed, the Bell shows no sign of re-opening and Taylor Swift never headlines at MAC. The only bit of excitement is when the circus comes to the village and she can spend time with her secret sweetheart - Silly Billy, the son of the owner. Goldilocks would love to join the circus! Her father, the Baron, is rather grumpy and a little over-protective, but there is a kind heart underneath that gruff exterior. No one quite knows what the Baron did before he moved to Hooky, but he seems to be a bit of an entrepreneur, owning some land that he rents to Dame Gertie when her circus is in town. Poor Dame Gertie! Although confused about their own sexuality, they have bigger and more pressing problems - money! The circus is finding it difficult to compete with Roblox, Minecraft or Fortnite and the Landlord, despite recent changes in legislation, is making unreasonable demands; he wants some rent.To add to her problems, there is a sinister predator in the wings in the form of the malevolent Ringmaster Heinkel, of the Circus of Horrors, who is looking for the opportunity to acquire Dame Gertie’s circus....cheap.What can Dame Gertie do? If only there was an exciting animal act that would work for peanuts...... or even honey!
